Alpacas

Gentle, curious, and irresistibly fluffy

Meet Our Alpacas

Alpacas are the heart and soul of Majestic Meadows! These gentle, curious creatures originally come from the high Andes mountains of South America, particularly Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.

Known for their incredibly soft fleece and calm demeanor, alpacas make wonderful farm animals and are surprisingly easy to care for. They're social animals that live in herds and communicate through gentle hums and body language.

Our alpacas love meeting visitors! They're naturally curious and will often approach to say hello. Each alpaca has its own unique personality - some are shy and reserved, while others are outgoing and love attention.

Alpaca Care

Diet

Alpacas are herbivores with efficient digestive systems. They primarily eat grass and hay, requiring less food than many other livestock animals. We supplement their diet with specialized alpaca feed to ensure they get all necessary vitamins and minerals.

Grooming

Alpacas are shorn once a year, typically in spring. This helps them stay cool in summer and provides us with beautiful fleece! Regular nail trimming and dental checks keep them healthy and comfortable.

Social Needs

Alpacas are herd animals and should never live alone. They form close bonds with their herd mates and enjoy having companions. Our alpacas live together in groups where they can socialize and play.
