Red Kangaroos
The largest marsupials in the world
Meet Our Red Kangaroos
Our Red Kangaroos are the largest marsupials in the world! Males can stand over 6 feet tall and weigh up to 200 pounds. Despite their impressive size, these Australian icons are gentle and curious around visitors.
Red Kangaroos get their name from the rusty-red fur of the males (females are often blue-gray). Female kangaroos (does) carry their babies (joeys) in their pouches for months. If you're lucky, you might spot a joey peeking out from mom's pouch!
These powerful animals can hop at speeds up to 35 mph and cover 25 feet in a single bound! They live in groups called mobs and communicate through vocalizations and foot thumping to warn of danger.
